Join us for a discussion of traditional Holy Week practices – blessed palms, the visitation of churches on Holy Thursday evening, the Paschal Fast, and the Blessing of Easter Foods – and how these religious and cultural traditions can find significance and meaning in the modern world.
Along with other traditions, we will explore the origins of preparing a basket of food to be blessed on Holy Saturday, the reasons for the individual food items, in particular dyed eggs, and the spiritual significance of breaking the Paschal Fast with the blessed food. It is our hope that the experience will rekindle an interest in these traditions, assure that they continue to be passed on to the next generation, and provide an opportunity to consider how they may fit into the fast-paced, hectic world of 2025.
In addition to the discussion, we will have the opportunity to learn to color Easter eggs using a traditional method of plants, flowers. and natural dyes.
We hope to see you on Thursday, April 3, 202 at 6:00pm in the GYM of our Parish Center.
Of course, as always, we have will a variety of beverages and snacks for you to munch on.
