“…Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets”–Luke 5:5
These words of Simon Peter to Jesus, dear parishioners, is the beginning of Simon and his companions encounter with Jesus.
After having toiled the whole night and caught no fish, the fishermen would be sad and tired, right! They would be in no mood to cast the net again. But, after listening to Jesus, Peter has found in Jesus a real Teacher and Master whom he found worth obeying.
This understanding which God has placed in his mind is the beginning of his journey of his discipleship. Simon and his companions are convinced of he fact that they have a mission under the Master; and so, they would leave everything to follow him. Therefore, can we also make a decision today to stand by Jesus and be fruitful in life?
In the first reading, Isaiah becomes aware of his sinfulness, but God subjects him to a purification ceremony after which Isaiah volunteers to be the messenger of God.
In the second reading, Paul answers the query of the Corinthians regarding the resurrection of Jesus by telling them that Christ rose as it had been said in the Scripture; and many, including Paul himself, have seen the risen Christ.
