The Church now invites us into the most sacred days of the entire liturgical year: the Easter Triduum, which unfolds in three profound celebrations.
*Holy Thursday – Mass of the Lord’s Supper. 7:00pm followed by Adoration and night Prayer at 10:00pm
We commemorate the institution of the Eucharist and the priesthood. Christ gives Himself to us in the Blessed Sacrament and teaches us the meaning of humble service through the washing of feet. This is a night of intimacy, gratitude, and love.
*Good Friday – Celebration of the Lord’s Passion. 3:00pm
On this solemn day, we remember Christ’s suffering and death on the Cross. There is no Mass, instead, we venerate the Cross and receive Holy Communion consecrated the night before. It is a day of fasting, silence, and profound reverence for the sacrifice that brought us salvation.
*Holy Saturday – The Easter Vigil
Beginning in darkness, we gather for the most beautiful liturgy of the year. The light of Christ breaks through as the Paschal Candle is lit, salvation history is proclaimed, and new members are welcomed into the Church. The Vigil culminates in the joyful celebration of the Resurrection.
*An Invitation to Enter In these Sacred Liturgies are not simply commemorations. They are encounters with the living Christ. The fullness of Easter cannot be experienced without walking the path of the Triduum. Each liturgy reveals a deeper dimension of God’s love, given in the Eucharist, poured out on the Cross, and victorious in the Resurrection.
I encourage all parishioners to make every effort to attend the Triduum liturgies as scheduled in our parish. Set aside the time. Bring your family. Enter into these mysteries with prayerful hearts.
Let us not remain at a distance this Holy Week. Let us walk with Christ–from the crowd of Jerusalem, to the Upper Room, to Calvary, and finally to the empty tomb–so that we may fully share in the joy of Easter.
