Sunday Before Lent

On this final Sunday before Lent, our readings remind us of the commandments. God’s infinite wisdom has given us laws that enable us to live a good, righteous life. Since we enter Lent this week, today is a good opportunity to ask ourselves how we are keeping the commandments, especially the supreme commandment to love God and neighbor. Let us reflect on this as we prepare for the beginning of Lent.

Jesus expands on four commandments in particular, laying out their implications and explaining the spirit of each. For those who take the commandments to heart, the kingdom of heaven awaits. Let us examine our consciences, conscious that we have the power to choose between good and evil, between life and death.

Our prayer and hope is that you will be counted among those whom God calls “blessed.”
