October 2024 – Prince of Peace

Dear Friends,

Next weekend is Mission Sunday, Having been the Director of the Office of Pontifical Missions for the past four months has opened my eyes to the needs of the many places in our world where the Catholic Church is in great need. From physical deprivations to persecutions to a lack of catechist, priests and sisters so many of our brothers and sisters in Christ are suffering. Please be generous to the collection next weekend. It is almost hard to believe that basic needs–clean water, food, clothing, shelter–that we take for granted are what so many need throughout the world. It is also had to believe how much good we do with out generosity to the poor!

Over the past four months, I have met and received letters from representatives of the many Missionary Apostolates throughout the world telling me of the great work of evangelization that is taking place among the poorest of the poor, in war-torn countries, and in countless lands where Christians are actively being reduced to second-class citizens. Many are being martyred for their Faith!

Not only are financial contributions necessary but your prayers as well. Please pray for the Missions. We are truly brothers and sisters because of our common Baptism and, even though we may never meet them, our prayers can help them in ways we may never know. Thank you in advance for your prayers, kindness and generosity.

“Spaghetti On Second” Dinner

Our Spaghetti On Second Dinner is scheduled for Sunday, October 27th from 11:0am to 2:00pm in our Parish Center. The dinner includes a tossed salad, homemade pasta with or without sauce, two large meatballs, two slices of Italian bread and coffee for $13.00.

Soda and bottled water may be purchased for $1.00 each. Extra meatballs are, also, available for purchase at $1.50 each. We have desserts at various prices for you to finish off the delicious dinner.

You may dine in or feel free to take-out your dinner and dessert.

There are, also, a 50/50 raffle tickets being sold at the dinner. One ticket for $1.00 or six tickets for $5.00.

Disciple Maker Index-Diocese of Harrisburg

This fall, Prince of Peace Parish-Assumption of the BVM Church will be conducting a parish survey on discipleship called the Disciple Maker Index (DMI) and we will need to hear from you! The information gathered will be used to plan for the future so we can become a more faith-filled, vibrant community. The survey will begin October 15 to November 24th and will take 10-15 minutes to complete. This can be done on line or we will have paper copies for you to complete. All responses will be confidential. In the coming weeks, check the bulletin, the parish website, and our Facebook page for additional information including how to access the survey online or complete a paper survey.
